grade pending means they didn't get an A on the health inspection! it's disgusting!! dont go there. you would think a B might still be ok right? it isn't, I work in a restaurant so I can vouch. "A restaurant’s B or C grade is not final until the restaurant has had the opportunity to go before the Health Department’s Administrative Tribunal to contest the violations cited against it. Until then, the restaurant has the option to post either the preliminary grade or a card that says “Grade Pending.” Once the grade is final, the restaurant must immediately post the letter grade card and take down the Grade Pending card. "

The Grade Pending means that restaurant received a less than an A Grade on their inspection. But, the restaurant can hang a Grade Pending sign until the restaurant is reinspected within one month. When the restaurant is reinspected it will receive a grade relevant to that reinspection. Most of the time those initial grievances are remedied and the new grade reflects that. But, if the grade is still below an A the restaurant has a right to file an appeal, wich may take half a year to resolve. In that time the restaurant can keep displaying the Grade Pending sign.
